Several keepsake photographs, including this photograph, were together in a photo album in the possession of Mildred Bates Watrous at the time of her death in 2001.  Viewed together (and all are on this site) it appears that they were taken of the participants in a high school science fair.  Ancestor Nephi James Bates (1875-1958) appears in some.  They appear to have been taken on the same day.  Since Nephi was from Richfield and Monroe in Sevier County, Utah . . . we assume that these keepsake photographs were taken at the local high school in about 1893.  We do not know who the other young men are in the various photographs.   Perhaps you do !
