The family of Nephi James Bates and his wife Flora Louise Maiben was faithful when it came to taking family photographs. It would seem that they never missed an opportunity when they were together. This photograph was taken in Richfield, Sevier County, Utah in the 1950s. Nephi died in 1958 so it was taken before that year. Left to right behind their parents are Reta, Stella, Henry, Lucile, Mildred. Mildred is our direct ancestor. She married Everest Raymond Watrous. Missing from the photograph is daughter Alta Bates Christiansen. Also missing is a daughter named Irene who died at the age of one in 1904.
