This keepsake photograph is of Sarah Sprague Bates. She was born in Utah in 1853 to Ithamer Sprague and Sarah Stedwell. In 1870 she married Nephi James Bates 1848-1921. They became the parents of twelve children but later divorced. This photograph was taken at the home of her son Nephi James Bates 1875-1958. The place is Richfield, Sevier County, Utah. The year is unknown. Nephi was her second child and is our direct ancestor. Upon her death, she was buried in the Monroe City Cemetery, Monroe, Sevier County, Utah.
