We can only guess when this keepsake photograph was taken.  We know that it is a photograph of direct ancestor Everest Elliott Watrous in front of a cabin he built near the present-day Spruces Campground in Big Cottonwood Canyon outside of Salt Lake City, Utah.  Nearby was the mine that consumed so much of Everest’s time as well as the time of his family.  The mine was later incorporated as The Cottonwood Metals Mining Company.    Everest married Mary Maria Jenkins in 1901.  They became the parents of three sons.  The youngest, Everest Raymond Watrous is our direct ancestor.
